HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL

HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL will be celebrating CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK from January 29th through February 5th. This year’s theme is: CATHOLIC SCHOOLS –FAITH, ACADEMICS, AND SERVICE. Mayor Sam Gibbons will be signing the Catholic Schools Week Proclamation before the 6:00 P.M. basketball game in Holy Rosary Gym on Monday evening, January 30th. FAITH – Daily the students pray together in their classrooms. On Wednesday mornings the staff, faculty, and students pray together in the gym before the school day begins. On Thursday morning all of the students attend Mass with Father Philip and all the classes take turns in planning the Mass. Special prayer times are planned for Advent and Lent. The students will plan a special liturgy and the children’s choir will be singing for the closing Mass on Saturday evening at 5:00 P.M. ACADEMICS – Academics are evident at Holy Rosary School by our test scores and Kindergarten screening results. SERVICE – Service projects are planned the year around: examples: Project Christmas Cheer, Angel tree, Samaritan Center collection, prayer partners, helping with Church and school activities and other activities that happen daily. A Catholic School Weeks service project will be the PENNY WAR – THESE FUNDS WILL GO TO ASSIST THE “DOOR OF HOPE”. BOOK FAIR – Scholastic Book Fair will be set up all week in the cafeteria. The students will have a chance to shop and it is available to parents during the week. Each teacher will have a “WISH BASKET” for parents to purchase books for their child’s classroom.

THE DAILY SCHEDULE (SPIRIT DAYS)
  • MONDAY – PJ DAY Our special guest for the day will be Fr. Steve Cook, son of Bob & Ginnie Cook, who is pastor at St Peter’s Church in Kansas City.
  • TUESDAY – CAMO DAY AND “COME AND SEE DAY”. The Come and See Day is for all perspective students wishing to attend Holy Rosary for the 2012-2013 school year. This is always a big day for the Pre-K classrooms as this is also a ROUND-UP DAY FOR THEM.
  • WEDNESDAY – FAKE INJURY DAY and breakfast will be served in the cafeteria for students with no charge from 7:30 to 8:00 A.M.
  • THURSDAY – ABC ANIMAL DAY. The day will start will all the student body attending Mass at 8:15. The special guest and speaker for the day will be J.C. Smith, who is a super volunteer in CHRISTIAN AND COMMUNITY SERVICE.
  • FRIDAY - DRESS-UP DAY AND GRANDPARENT TEA. Grades Pre-k through grade 2 will present a music program and then share cookies and drinks with their guests in the cafeteria.
  • SATURDAY – CLOSING MASS AT 5:00 P.M.
